INTRODUCTION
Journey through one of the most culturally rich and photogenic volcanoes on the planet. Mount Bromo is the most iconic and picturesque mountain in Indonesia, standing majestically tall at 2329m. The scenery in the crater is otherworldly; it has vents that keep spewing off yellow-white sulfurous smoke and low-lying clouds that cover the lower portion of the central crater. It is a volcanic paradise with ethereal, breathtaking landscapes. Join us in this photography adventure in East Java, Indonesia. We will explore Tumpak Sewu, Kawah Ijen, and Mount Bromo via chartered 4x4 jeeps and a comfortable shuttle bus. We will drive up to different vantage points to witness its spectacular beauty during sunrise/sunset for stunning light and colors, and also during twilight/night for star trails or the Milky Way. There will be photography sessions with locals to provide a cultural photographic experience—a rare photographic opportunity for photographers motivated to push their portfolio and skills to the next level. |

ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS

July 30: Surabaya (Official Start)
Arriving one day earlier in Surabaya. Please proceed to our hotel near the airport via the hotel's complimentary airport shuttle. July 31: Mount Bromo After breakfast, we will head to Mt. Bromo and check in at our accommodation upon arrival. Travel time is around 3-4 hours. We will have our lunch at one of the restaurants around our accommodation. There will be a short break, as we will head immediately to Seruni Point for sunset and a Milky Way shoot. August 1: Mount Bromo Wake-up call is at 2:00 AM. We will board our 4x4 jeep for Prau Hill to photograph the star trail and shoot the sunrise. It will be around 40 minutes to get there. After the sunrise shoot, we will head back to our accommodation for breakfast. We will stop at the Sea of Sand to take travel photos. It will be candid, with no setup. For one hour, we will photograph horses and horsemen as they embark on their journey to the crater of Mount Bromo. In the afternoon, we will have another sunset-to-night shoot at another viewpoint deck, Penanjakan 1. |
August 2: Mount Bromo, Tumpak Sewu
Wake-up call is at 2:00 AM. We will board our 4x4 jeep for Penanjakan 1 to capture star trails and shoot the sunrise. After the sunrise shoot, we will head back to our accommodation for breakfast. After breakfast, we will drive to our homestay near Tumpak Sewu. We will explore and photograph around Tumpak Sewu during sunset. August 3: Tumpak Sewu, Kawah Ijen Morning shoot in Tumpak Sewu. You may opt to stay at the panorama view deck and/or go down to the waterfalls to photograph them more closely. Tumpak Sewu is best photographed using a drone to include the towering Mount Semeru in the distance. We will head immediately to Bondowoso after breakfast and check out. We are expected to arrive in Bondowoso in the afternoon. We will have enough time for rest and preparation for the Kawah Ijen trek. |
August 4: Kawah Ijen, Surabaya
Wake-up call is at 12:01 AM. We will board our vehicle for the Kawah Ijen trailhead. We will be accompanied by our guides. The trek up to the crater takes 60 to 90 minutes, depending on your pace. You can hire porters/carts to carry your stuff or yourself up to the crater. After the sunrise shoot, we will head back immediately to our homestay in Bondowoso to tidy up and check out. We will have our lunch along the way as we head back to Surabaya. Our estimated arrival time in Surabaya is around 5:00 - 7:00 PM. We will check in at our hotel near the airport after dinner. August 5: Surabaya (Official End) Flight departure in Surabaya. End of tour. |
